Guidance Draft FAQs
Even if dietary supplements are protected, what about practitioners? Aren’t they threatened?
Like the Coalition to Preserve DSHEA, practitioner groups have also been contacted by their concerned members. Statements from other membership organizations representing practitioners who employ products and practices used in CAM, have also explained that the guidance does not appear to threaten their members. For example, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians has said the guidance “constitutes no immediate or direct threat to CAM products or practitioners.” The American Chiropractic Association says that “no current law or regulation regarding nutritional supplements will be affected in any way” by the guidance. Even the group that represents Reiki therapists has said its practice “isn’t being threatened” by the guidance and that information surrounding it has been “distorted and misrepresented.”
